Huntington Beach - Dog Beach

One mile of golden sands and the exciting Pacific Ocean have made Huntington Beach a paradise for dogs where they can frolic in the water and taste a sense of freedom. Dogs may be off-leash in the water and on the wet sand. Dog Beach is located in Huntington Beach on the west side of Pacific Coast Highway between Seapoint St on the north and 21st St on the south. There is plenty of metered parking available in lots along side PCH.

Long Beach - Rosie’s Dog Beach

Long Beach is home to the only off-leash dog beach in Los Angeles County. Only one dog per adult is permitted and no aggressive dogs are allowed. This 3-acre, non-fenced park is located at the waterfront between Roycroft and Argonne Avenues, a few blocks east of the Belmont Pier and Olympic Pool. Ample metered parking is available along Ocean Blvd and free parking is available at the beachfront lot at the end of Granada Ave daily after 5pm.

Coronado – Dog Beach

This dog beach is wide and sandy and offers the Pacific surf and Hotel del Coronado as beautiful backdrop. It is located at the northern most end of the beach next to the Naval Air Station on Ocean Blvd, near Sunset Park.

Del Mar – Dog Beach

A nice, low-key spit of sand to let your dog roam in lovely Del Mar, but with limitations: the off-leash designated area is seasonal only (September to June). Parking is sparse in this area and parking tickets flow freely, so be sure to read all posted signs carefully.

Malibu – Leo Carrillo State Beach

This state beach allows leashed dogs. The only restriction is that dogs are not allowed between towers two and three (the busiest part of the beach).

Dog Parks

 

Huntington Beach Central Park – Dog Park

Dogs can roam free in Dog Park and get a chance to play with other dogs their size. There are two sides to Dog Park: one for small dogs and puppies, and one for large dogs.  Huntington Beach Dog Park also has a dog-walk-of-fame, snacks and seating for dog owners.

Location: East side of Edwards St. Enter at the Inlet Drive parking lot.

Operating hours: weekdays 9am – 7pm, weekends 10am – 7pm

 

Fullerton Pooch Park

Fullerton Pooch Park has both a small dog park for small, senior, and disabled dogs and a large dog park for active, high energy dogs. All pooches and their owners are welcome, provided everyone follows the rules and regulations and owners pick up after their dogs.

Garden Grove Dog Park

There are no fees to enjoy the Garden Grove Dog Park which features separate play areas for large and small dogs. It includes a leash/off-leash area, benches, and pet waste bag stations.

Seal Beach – Arbor Dog Park

Arbor Dog Park is 2.5 acres of green grass and shade trees that offers the perfect fenced, off-leash haven for exercising their dogs. Park facilities include benches, a water fountain for both two and four legged patrons, a number of well stocked waste dispensers, and covered trash cans.

Location: Between Valley View St and Los Alamitos Blvd off Lampson Ave.

Operating hours: From dusk till dawn, closed Thursdays 8am – 12pm for maintenance

Long Beach – Uptown Dog Park

Uptown Dog Park provides separate areas for small and large dogs to play off leash. The dog park area is near picnic tables and a nearby parking lot.

Long Beach – K-9 Corner Dog Park

This dog park has a unique design that is environmentally friendly by using drought tolerant landscaping and generating 100% of its electricity on site with solar energy. The park has water fountains for humans and dogs, seating, evening lighting and separate areas for large and small dogs.

Costa Mesa – Bark Park

The Bark Park is a two-acre fenced off-leash park in the city of Costa Mesa. The park has a separate area for small, elderly, and disabled dogs. Facilities include a double gated entrance, parking, tress, benches, restrooms, and water dispensers for dogs as well as dog waste bags.

Location: On the corner of Arlington Ave and Newport Blvd in TeWinkle Park, across the street from the Orange County Fairgrounds Equestrian Center.
